Egg Donor FAQs
While our knowledgeable and compassionate egg donor coordinators will help you develop a full understanding of the egg donation process, these FAQs will help get you started.
How long after I am accepted into the egg donor program do I get matched?
After you are accepted as an egg donor, you could be matched in as quickly as two weeks, but normally it takes a few months. By agreeing to be a donor, you are making a commitment to be available. If time restraints begin to be an issue, please contact your egg donor coordinator.
How much information do I need to include in my profile?
This is one of the most common egg donor FAQs. Your donor profile is the best way for hopeful parents to decide whether you are a good match for them. It’s important to include as much information as you are comfortable sharing. Remember, hopeful parents not only identify with your physical characteristics, but your personality as well.
What are hopeful parents looking for?
Hopeful parents are looking for an emotional connection with their prospective donor. Including information about your academic history, achievements and interests helps them get to know you beyond your appearance. However, it’s also helpful to put your best foot forward by using appropriate and flattering pictures. While we prefer current headshots and full-length photos, hopeful parents also love viewing your childhood photos that give them a glimpse into what their child might look like.
How long does the stimulation process take?
The stimulation process will begin on the second day of your menstrual cycle. At this time, you will begin taking medications to stimulate egg production. A normal stimulation timeframe is 10-14 days, and includes regular monitoring. The stimulation process ends with egg retrieval. You will need to take it easy for a couple of days after the retrieval, but should then feel ready to return to your normal activities.
How long until I receive compensation for my egg retrieval?
You will receive your compensation on the day of your retrieval.
